You may know Len for his photography, and his beautiful sepia toned works inspired by nature. But, where did this all start? Len started drawing and printmaking at art school and still loves these disciplines today.

What started out as an exercise to revisit his drawing practice for Creative February (what is creative February? Read all about it here), led Len to create an online course to share his love of drawing. Realising that the how to draw books available on the market are limited in scope, he starts from the very roots of drawing - making marks. This is a fundamental step in learning to draw. It’s about spending time practicing and becoming comfortable with your tools and the process.

Learning with Len means spending time each day, pencil in hand, drawing along with Len as he draws and talks you through the process. Get lost in a world of mark making as Len muses about art and inspiration.

This is the start of your drawing journey. On completion of this first drawing class, you will be comfortable with the process. You will have completed your first self-portrait (yes, really!) and you will have learnt to make many different types of marks, from lines and shapes, through to tones and graduations. You will start drawing basic shapes and toning them to make them look three dimensional.
