I am so pleased to announce that we launched Len’s Journal on Monday and we already have a solid number to people purchasing the first issue.

Len’s Journal is a quarterly print journal dedicated to creative photography.

Len’s Journal is intentionally filled with stunning photographs whilst is light on words. Because the photographs matter the most. Printed to the highest standard locally.

It is a limited edition magazine, with each issue printed specifically to people who pre-purchase it. Each individual magazine will be numbered and embossed with my studio symbol. This means that as the magazine grows in popularity each issue will grow in value.

Editions will be limited to those that have purchased it in advance, with only a few extra copies to be made available in our own retail outlets.

Side note: Did you know that an extremely battered copy of Alfred Stieglitz’s Camera Work issue 44 fetched USD5000 whilst the first issue goes for many times more. Complete whole sets of the magazine are in credibly rare. Even a small number of the magazines in reasonable condition were recently valued at EUR$100,000 by the British Roadshow.

We intend to make Len’s Journal a collectors item.

Printed here in Australia by Momento Pro, Len’s Journal is of the highest print quality we can find. It is 210 mm x 210 mm printed on a gorgeous matte paper with a perfect bound soft cover. Each issue is 60 pages.

One of defining features is that the works of photographic art contained within each issue are always a cohesive and resolved series designed to be showcased together. This isn’t a magazine with lucky one off photographs. Here we show what artists do when they produce a series. It is about photographs that talk to each other.

In our first issue we have portfolios by:

  1. Mark Littlejohn, one of UK’s most prominent landscape photographers, and one of Len’s personal favorite photographers of the English woodland.

  2. Shirley Steel, graces us with a gorgeous series of images from Moroco

  3. Jan Pearman shares here incredible seaweed creatures from New Zealand

  4. Clair Reynolds shows us the beauty with her infra red flowers

  5. Len Metcalf, yes me, I share with you the romantic series ‘Mystique’ that was exhibited in Europe with Hans Strand, Art Wolfe and Jack Dynkiga at the Art of Wild Gallery

Only those that pre purchase Len’s Journal will get each issue. The print run will be limited to that number.

We close the sales for our first issue on the 8th April which is less than three weeks away. So if you are interested in owning your copy of our inaugural issue then you will need to act fast.

There is only one way to purchase Len’s Journal and that is to take out a subscription, you will be billed every three months, which you can cancel at any time.
