Lost for words

Feeling lost for words this morning.

Do any of you recognise this spot?

I stare at it and wander off in thoughts.

Where does it take you?

I wish it was a magic pill that lifted the soul everyone who’s eyes fell on it. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Slowly, the location reveals itself to me. Memories of the different times I have shot there. Always with people, a class, my students. Happy, beautiful memories of what suddenly feels like a time long gone.

Suddenly the photography exercise I need to write today Flood’s into me. That little spark of creativity as the mind wanders. When the lightbulb goes off, it’s magical.

Suddenly there are lots of words to come out.

I am reminded how beautiful the creative act is.

Reminded that the most important thing is starting. Because the act of doing informs its own direction and the final outcome. If you just sit and wonder what to do, it rarely comes. But if you just start, it comes naturally with time through the act of doing.

Just start something creative, for yourself. In times of extreme uncertainty creativity is something to turn too for relief.

Start.

The easiest and hardest step, depending on your thoughts…
