exhibition: The Handbook of Solitude

exhibition: The Handbook of Solitude

We have recently featured Suellen Saidee Cook’s captivating work in Len’s Journal (her Treehouses series in Volume 3, Issue 1 published in Feb this year) and we are excited to see that she is holding an exhibition of her work. it is running 14th April to 31st May 2023 at the Henry Jones Art Hotel Art Gallery, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. If you happen to be close to the area it will be well worth a visit to see these beautifully crafted works up close.

These are images to immerse yourself in. As you explore you uncover more and more in the details. Suellen crafts each image out of many images she has taken. Expertly put together to create a sense of place that is mystical and other-worldly.

As Suellen remarks, “I have always enjoyed solitude; I do my best work when alone in my studio or out in nature. Solitude is a theme that runs through much of my artwork, something I discovered early on, along with my strong connection to the sea and water in general. The sea is my peaceful place whether be wild or mirror smooth. Solitude and the sea feed my soul, renew my energy and give me a sense of peace, of being where I am meant to be and the inspiration to create my artwork”.

We have to agree, there is a sense of peace and serenity emanating from these works.
