Leura in infra red

It is way too soon to be really looking deeply at last weeks photographs from The Leura Retreat. They need a year or two to mature really. Just like a good red wine. The longer I leave them the better. But as usual I found a few I instantly loved. So I thought I would share them with you.

You will have to excuse me for a few more days… Computer problems… I am setting up a Mac Mini from scratch at the moment as my main computer, and instead of installing everything off the automatic back up, I am going down the slow route of adding everything manually. Well, luckily this has been worth it. Lightroom has suddenly dropped the five minute lag between develop and print modules. It was so bad, I would go and make a cuppa tea while it churned away. I had a feeling it was some of the printing templates I had created. The one that had my signature on it was the prime suspect. While it is unfortunate that my settings aren’t there anymore. I think I have solved the problem. Time will tell if I have fixed it. But for the moment I think I have. I am sure there will be some hick ups in things this week. I will have to set up my printing templates from scratch again. No biggie as it is good practice and keeps me on top of the printing module.

I spent the first few days totally engrossed in my my modified camera. I had the UV and Infra Red filters removed. I can’t say I am comfortable with it yet. As it was still a lot of trial and error. I am going to try some of the coloured filters I used on it on my normal camera and try setting custom white balances to see what happens. I have a sneaking suspicion I may have stumbled on a technique that we can all use on any camera to give false colours.

Abstracting the colours has been great fun, and as you may imagine I ended up with a lot of purple photographs, being my favourite colour. I will save them for a later post.

I was really struggling with the focus. Infra red focuses at a different distance than the colours we see. So instead of battling it, I went with the out of focus and pused it even a bit further. I am still not sure about the colours, so I will revisit these in monochrome and see what they look like in my sepia.

Even with abstract photography I still find myself returning to monochrome. I think it really is just me. When I dive into colour, I get so distracted by the colours. And I think I keep going way too far with them.

Time will tell….
