Geoff Pearman is from Sawyers Bay near Dunedin, Otepoti, New Zealand. His love of abstract expressionist photography shines through his work. I just love the questions his work raises about what really constitutes a landscape. We are excited to be featuring a series of his abstract landscapes in our next issue of Len’s Journal.

Len says: “Geoff’s intention is to question the meaning of landscape to us viewers, he suggests it is a place created in our minds and through our language. He does this so successfully we are immediately convinced we are in the landscape. Yet, slowly and with thought, he reveals these aren’t landscapes at all, but gorgeous artworks of rust and decay. His work reminds me of great landscape painters of our time, and speaks of brushstrokes, textures and emotions. This is a powerful series, and works beautifully in printed format. We are so pleased to introduce you to his work”.

If you are in New Zealand this month and in Geoff’s local area, head over to Dunedin Community Gallery to see Geoff’s current exhibition ‘Boundless’, further details here: https://www.oursight.co.nz/exhibition
