introducing: Doug Chinnery
Doug Chinnery is from the UK. His work is influenced by abstract expressionist artists and it shows! His work redefines landscape photography and presents us with painterly scenes that draw us in and allow us to immerse ourselves into his glorious, colourful world.
Len says: “Doug’s love for painting shines in this series in this Len’s Journal issue. Doug is a painter as well as a photographer, and is best described as an artist. In this series he leaves reality far behind, the only reference seems to be to the paint like textures. I find myself lost as I stare at them, enjoying the purity of colour and texture, which allows my mind to explore its own narrative. I am left wondering about them, yet entranced by their beauty”.
It is a real pleasure to be introducing Doug’s work to you as he has been a great influence on Len and those of us who have been lucky enough to hear him speak on a workshop. We hope you enjoy his work in the journal and get inspired to try out your own abstract work.
