develop your abstract photography
Shirley Steel and myself are so proud to be announcing today our upcoming series of abstract workshops. All aimed at photographers who see their camera more as a paint brush or pencil and wish to create art with the amazing canvas of life. We have been working hard behind the scenes on bringing three very different offerings to you in the very near future. We are also still working hard on our book on the subject too.
the abstract project
Firstly, in three weeks time we are running an online program that runs for just over three months. It is to help people bring their work together into a meaningful body of work and produce it in some way. A book, portfolio or website for example. It is run on Thursday afternoons and you can attend through your computer at home. We will record the sessions, just in case you miss one, or need to watch it again a second time. Each participant will get one on one coaching sessions with both Shirley and myself, as well as group classes and inspiring presentations from us.
We have bravely called this The Abstract Project It will commence on the 26th August and run through until the end of November. You can read more about it and book by following this link https://www.lensschool.com/workshops-tours/the-abstract-project
the abstract workshop
The second offering is the abstract workshop that we have been running for a long time. I initially called it Blurry Lens, and it was just a day long. For the past six years we have been running it as a week long event. We have run it in South West Rocks, Port Stephens and Vincentia. It is time to head to Port Macquarie in March 2022. This is a non residential workshop that is stripped bare so that you can choose your accommodation to your own taste.
We teach abstract photography techniques, and inspire you with methods and processes to use. This is a hands on workshop, with presentations, shoots, printing and critiquing your work.

the abstract retreat
The third offering is a return to Leura, but this time in Spring. Spring is home to famous Leura Garden Festival, and we have timed our retreat to make the most of the gorgeous open gardens in the Blue Mountains. This is a fully catered live in luxury retreat. We ran it successfully this year, and the feedback was outstanding. The retreat gives you time to work on your art, whilst attending inspiring presentations and critique sessions in between. We are running the retreat in October 2022
The retreat is aimed at those abstract artists that wish to push further. Beginners in this genre are recommended to attend the abstract workshop prior to attending this retreat, or be at an intermediate or advanced level with their work.

I am currently preparing my Master Class for an online version for 2022. I hope to make a formal announcement of my year long course later this month. It will be a combination of presentations, classes, one on one sessions. The Master Class runs intermittently and is where I started my full time career in teaching photography. It aims to help advanced beginners and intermediate photographers to the next level. It was last run in 2020.
