Port Macquarie Abstracts
Shirley, myself and a handful of photographers are off to Port Macquarie in a fortnight’s time. Our annual Abstract Photography Workshop is just on the horizon. It’s been nine months since I taught a group in person. Can you imagine how excited I am to be out again with enthusiastic artists creating. Ohhhh my… I so often do my best work when I am immersed with other creatives. https://www.lensschool.com/workshops-tours/the-abstract-workshop
A few of the photographers are returning which is incredibly exciting. That always pushes us to revise everything we teach so that’s fresh for them too.
The above image is taken at Vincentia during a mini abstract workshop early last year. I panned the wave in a oblique motion to capture this one on one of those delightful sunrise mornings. We might be blessed with storm clouds each day if our current weather patterns continue. I hope to keep working on my mononchome abstracts too, but as always I hope I push through into some new work too. After so long on zoom I am so excited.
The monochrome is from years ago and represents my earlier work.
The really exciting bit is not having expectations or setting up any projections about what I’ll take. I just want to show up and see where I go this year. Respond to a sense of place. It’s ok to have some but not overwhelmingly planned. As you can see I am intention setting.
The next workshop after that will be to Narooma with Peter Eastway in May. https://www.betterphotography.com/workshop-seminars/workshops/narooma-with-len-metcalf-peter-eastway-22-26-february-2021-65-detail
