Scotland Dreaming
“The enemy of art is the absence of limitation.”
– Orson Welles
I has such strong dreams of Scotland last night. Beautiful old houses on large estates. So quite and removed from the world in a private sanctuary without a care in the world. Places where the rest of the world was far away.
I miss Scotland and ache to return. Funny that I have only been there twice, scarcely 20 hrs last time and three days the one before.
I romanticise the place I am sure.
Perhaps it’s the family tree that draws me. Do many of you know my full name is Leonard Murray Metcalf. The Murray, I thought was homage to my father, which it is I am sure. But it is a name with a long history for us. Somewhere back there my ansestors are the Murray clan in Scotland. There is even a poem about the Sea Captain Murray who crashed the ferry. Yes I am related. I will see if I can find it for you to read.
So perhaps my longing for country is about my roots. Perhaps it is an aching for rain, cool weather and mist.
I know I miss my friends who live there. Megan in Glasgow, Tim and Charlotte down near Gencoe.
Rest assured I will get there again. Camera in hand. Time with my ansestors and my dearest friends.
