My heart is saddened with the loss of so many forests and ecosystems in the current fires. I am saddened by the loss of life and property, injury and devistation that sweeps the country. It is amazing how these events bring us closer together to help each other.
I am deeply saddened and angst ridden by the political debate about the causes. It seems to me that most Australians believe their is a real climate emergency and are acting on it personally in their lives. Thinking about their carbon footprint for example, helping with recycling. Speaking up about the horrible changes we are witnessing.
What saddens me the most is our governments blatant stance that sides with the big end of town, and not what the people really want.
We don’t want any more coal fired powerstations. We don’t want more mines. We want tax relief for electric vehicles and green electricity production. We want massive tree plantation programs that restore our waterways. We want our rivers to flow freely again.
Apparently I am in inner city green extremist who can’t listen to the overwhelming noise that thousands of scientists are screaming at me, nor whom can hear the kids who are worrying about their future.
Its time to hold them accountable for crimes against the planet and humanity.
Oh well, another Len fantasy perhaps. I do have hope though.
Am so thankful to all those fighting fires in this emergency.
