Darkness

I have been fascinated by words and concepts that either match or miss match with thier meanings. Take for example feeling blue, yet blue fills us with serotonin and is the worlds favourite colour. Another that I am wrestling with is low key dark and moody works of art. Why is it we associate the concept that a low key artwork is more emotional than a high key one. The key word is emotive. Which we tend to use when someone has a negative reaction rather than a happy one.

When do we ever go around saying he’s too emotional because he’s so happy and laughing all the time. Yet sadness is apparently at the other end of the scale from sadness. Surely both are emotional.

Being out on a moon lite night away from the pains of the rest of the world is the most joyful thing. Is stunning and it fills me with joy.

Is it’s because things used hunt us down in the dark? Is dark still considered scary? Is it because we can’t see as well?

I used to go out with my drawing board and charcoal and draw at night. I think I need to go a photograph some more at night.

It is actually beautiful at night…
