Submission of content is not a guarantee of publication, or publication in a particular issue.

How will my work be used?

Your series of 8-10 images will be printed in Len’s Journal printed magazine.

In the future we may publish a PDF e-book version of each issue.

We typically select one of your images to be included in the online advertising for the Len's Journal issue your work will be appearing in. The advertising runs during the month or two before publication and is online on the Len's Journal website, in the Len's Journal email newsletter and on Len's Journal social media sites (facebook and instagram). There may also be advertising with third parties who will include details of Len's Journal in their own email newsletters (which may or may not include your image). When your work is presented online we will properly acknowledge yourself as the author and copyright holder of the image and include the link to your website/social media site.

What about copyright?

You retain the copyright to your work. By agreeing to be in Len’s Journal you are granting us the right to publish your work in Len’s Journal printed magazine and PDF e-book plus associated marketing on social media, websites and the internet or email campaigns. Your images will not be used for any other purpose.

Submission requirements

  • A set of 10-20 images. Ideally the images should all speak to each other as a set.

  • A high resolution file of each image suitable for printing i.e. at least 2000 pixels on the longest side and saved as a tiff or 100% quality JPEG.

  • Approximately 100-150 words about your series of images. This text will be presented at the start of your series of images in the magazine.

  • A short title for the set of images.

  • A short bio of approx 50-100 words. Please write your bio in the first person.

  • A link to a website, instagram or other photo sharing site that you would like featured. This will be printed with your bio in the magazine and shared online.

What format do I need to supply my work in?

How many images should I submit?

Please send us 10-20 images that talk to each other as a set, from these around 9 images will be published. Len Metcalf curates Len’s Journal and will select the 9 images from the selection you submit to us.

How do I send you my images?

If the images are too large please contact us at hello@lensschool.com and we can send you a dropbox link to upload your images to instead.

Will I be paid for the use of my images?

Each contributor to Len’s Journal will receive one gratis copy of the issue their work appears in. We are unable to offer monetary compensation at this time.

Can I purchase extra copies?

Yes, you can purchase extra copies of the issue your images appear in. Email hello@lensschool.com to request extra copies and arrange payment.
