Descending diagonal

This image is technically a descending diagonal. Though I have noticed that most people think it’s an ascending one.

Which way does you eyes run along the diagonal log? Up - ascending or down - descending?

This is from the Tarkine. Dip falls. And one of my favourite photographs of the Tarkine. I have so many. As a location it keeps giving and giving. I spend a fair bit of time discussing this in my composition presentations. There is a short version in the camera club talks and a longer more detailed version in the composition course.
