Time for a new project?

Time for a new project?

Here at Len’s Journal we love projects and get excited when someone embarks on a new series of work. In Len’s Club we are privileged to see to formation of projects from the very start. Russell Spence is an example of this as he has started a project that has really piqued our interest. He has an interest in birds and his new project takes him in a very different and exciting direction with his bird photography.

Russell says, “I grew up in Berrigan in Southern NSW and developed an interest in Birds from my Dad, and with my brother and some family friends and we would ride for hours on our bikes around the country side looking at birds. This interest has continued and has been a main subject of my photography in recent years.

My own personal little Mantra is ‘An Art that Nature Makes’ which is taken from a film about photographer Rosamond Purcell who finds unexpected beauty in the discarded and decayed.

But it is the encouragement, guidance and skills passed on from Len and the group that has given me the confidence to start on this project to create a meaningful body of work and to be "strong" in my project.”

Thank you Russell for sharing these first images with us. We are looking forward to seeing where this project takes you!

You can see more of Russell’s work on his website.

Here in Sydney we are in lockdown, so now may be the perfect opportunity to start a photographic project of your own.
