Online Bookmaking Workshop 2023

Len’s love of books has driven him to publish Len’s Journal, a quarterly publication dedicated to showcasing creative photography. Len’s Journal is a high quality book printed professionally, however, Len is also very passionate about making his own books by hand. This is a beautiful way to present your own photographs and becomes a work of art in its own right. You have direct control over the paper selection, the style of binding, the type of cover, the colours, it is personal to you and a very satisfying project to complete.

For Shirley, her love of bookmaking has grown with her love of photography. She says, “making books for me now is a significant part of my workflow and the way I resolve my images. Each book may not be high end, it may be small and imperfect, but it is my work and it is on a bookshelf somewhere to be picked up and leafed through. It is the most accessible way I can share my prints or future proof my work”.

Len and Shirley will cover all the aspects of making your own books, from design and layout, paper selection, tools required and how to put it all together. They will also cover how to make your own books online using software provided by photobook printing companies.

This will add a new dimension to your photography and is a great way to get those wonderful photos, that are hidden away on your hard drive, out to share with others.
