A touch of colour
With Sydney in a bit of a mess at the moment, and being forced to live a very different life I thought I needed to share a bit of colour.
Bright and cheerful I hope.
It’s amazing how much I struggle with my colour work. I am rarely satisfied with the colours. I wonder if it is an astute sense of colour and a frustration about getting it right or am I just so much more comfortable without it.
Most of my colour work sings in monochrome. The only way I can reconcile my colour work is to let go of the notion of accurate colour. I have talked about this so much before. Once I allow myself to abstract them a little I can play with them.
But despite my endless rationalisations, I still don’t connect with them as much as I’d like. It’s so fascinating, because so many people tell me that they are so beautiful and I should do more. Perhaps it’s the ‘should’ that doesn’t work?
I was thinking when I started this writing that I don’t post much colour work. But a quick flick back through all the recent blog posts says something very different. I was amazed to see how many there are. Helped no doubt with Clair’s beautiful posts sharing student work and work being featured in Len’s Journal.
We closed off sales for this next issue and I am so pleased that we have an increase in subscriptions. It is going to be so lovely to watch it grow and grow. Slowly and organically I hope.
Am pretty scattered today. My apologies. Please bear with me and enjoy these beautiful colourful artworks. I hope they bring you a smile.
