Six days walking and a handful of photographs
Cyan and I walked for six days. The weather turned once for a morning of excitement. It was while we were on the Kowmung and on the day we were walking up Bullhead Spur.
Here you can see the fire damage the fires burnt incredibly hot here. So many trees have had to sprout at the roots as the branches got too hot. The rain that followed washed the topsoil away. Looked like landslides in so many places The well worn bushwalking track that’s been there for more than my lifetime was nowhere to be seen anywhere we walked.
The indigenous recognise this land as healing country. Healing for thier people. I found it incredibly healing. Walking through it was one long therapeutic journey of growth.
I am usually very sad after a fire. Feeling heavy for the trees and lack of wildlife. But here I didn’t. I know the animals will return and the clean out the bush has had is now refreshing. You can see and feel how it’s growing so so beautifully again.
I do hope those horrendous fires helped us see the importance of addressing climate change.
Despite carrying my camera all that way at the ready on my chest, the photographs weren’t forthcoming. Just this one morning of delight. I was lucky it coincided with a special and sacred place for me.
Looking over Christie’s Creek from Bullhead Spur. To far from the car park for photographers. Well past the spectacular views of Kanangra. No track any more. Only those brave souls who can navigate will ever visit this step Spur.
