Escape to the Blue Mountains with me
I am so excited to be going up to the Blue Mountains on Monday for a week of photography and education. A visit to my home. Will be staying in the same street as my preschool is in. Do you know I can still remember the swing in the playground under the tree 50 plus years ago.
It’s always a feeling of going home. As I drive up from the flood plains of Sydney the stresses of city life get left behind. By the time I am at Glenbrook family memories start to return. As I continue to wind my way up the mountain and put distance between Sydney and me I know I am coming home.
Heading up Boddington Hill into Wentworth Falls seals the deal. I was ten when I’d visit my sister there at Whispering Pines, and chase yabbies in the creek bellow her place. Such special times.
At Leura I drive past my home town and the sense of longing often peaks. I can remember a foot of snow on the ground and the plum tree I’d climb in the backyard.
Once I am at Katoomba I start to bump into friends from my more recent years of living there. Such a friendly happy place for me.
I can’t wait to wander tracks I know like the back of my hand and show others my favourite spots to photograph.
I have two more spots for next weeks escape if you’d like to join us at the last minute. I’d love you to come. It has been such a hard year and some time out as a reward with total immersion in our loves is in order. Totally immersed in photography.
