Today is my birthday.
Do you know what I wish for? Action on our current global climate emergency.
So I thought I’d ask you a favour.
I understand that politicians actually count letters from their constituents about hot issues, and if they get enough they listen because their position depends on our votes.
So my favour is, would you take a moment to write to your local member and tell them about your concerns over the Australian Fires, our reliance on fossil fuels, climate change, deforestation and urging the need to act. I took the time yesterday to do this, and I probably went on with the fears I have for the future of my son, my own and the planet.
I also made a point of asking for action on replanting our waterways, reforestation and stopping old growth logging. I asked if they could help our farmers reforest their properties to restore water.
The Australian Conservation Foundation has a handy email generator to make this an easy task. It finds your local federal mp and their email address. It doesn’t include any information about the ACF. It allows you to write whatever you like.
If nothing else please reach out to voice your concerns about the bushfires.
