Melaleuca

Serena and I have been working on my books for weeks. The editor wants to check them so it will still be a bit longer before I announce them. It’s so exciting.

It’s her last day with me and it’s been a very good few weeks. She has been my intern. She studies with me, attends some workshops and then helps with some work. It’s her second one, as after last year she realised that she did her best work here with me. She doesn’t really understand how she’s learning from me. It’s lovely to watch her grow and to keep pushing and encouraging. Her work this year will blow her family away, again…

I am always open for interns, assistants and help in exchange for learning, mentoring, tuition or workshops. I know that my courses and workshops are expensive. It goes with the territory of having to earn a full time living from teaching. Luckily, I believe I am worth it, and therefore make no apologies.

To think people travel from all over the world to learn from me. What a beautiful blessing that is. A lovely bit of praise that keeps me going, not to mention the fantastic locals who also I get to spend time with.

Besides being immersed with passionate learners and such beautiful photographs, I learn so much from my students. I acknowledge that without the lessons they teach me, I would not be as good at photography without them. They push me to improve, learn and understand. It’s the long discussions about why photographs work that has taught the most.

I am very grateful of being blessed with this part of my life. Teaching creativity and art, photography and technique.

Thank you. So appreciated.
