Sometimes it’s lovely to feel like a kid again and pretend you can’t be seen. To take some time for oneself. Time to reconnect with Mother Nature.
So much comes across my path at the moment about trees, plants and the whole ecosystem.
The other day was the discovery of plants heart beat. As the fluids circulating around the plant they are in waves, beats, or pulses.
Another is we can now hear the sounds they make as they are being eaten, killed and maimed.
Humanising plants is important to help us elevate them in our hierarchy of care. We must love them, care for them and nurture them.
I was reading something yesterday about what we can do for global climate change. It had a huge list of things Australia could do. It was incredibly disappointing to read as one of the suggestions was dam more rivers, another was installing lots more batteries.
What I didn’t read was reforestation, work on restoring waterways, helping farmers understand waterway management with planting, reductions in transportation and in particular learning to eat locally and in season again.
We can’t rely on technology to save the planet, we have to rebuild the natural systems we have destroyed. We have to reduce how much plastic we make and ship around the world in airfreight. We have to start making products that last and stop buying shit that doesn’t.
If you want to do something today, plant a tree, tend your garden or seriously consider what your spending your next dollar on.
It’s not to late to change…
Where we created this has been burnt to a cinder in just the last few days. There isn’t any plants to hide behind now. My thoughts are with everyone and everything that is currently suffering the fires, the drought and the heat…
