Say it with flowers

Good things can happen during this pandemic (honest!). One of them is the fantastic concept of virtual exhibitions - what better way to get art out and about when we cannot.

Ballarat International Foto Biennale are doing just that with a selection of their 2021 exhibitions. I thoroughly enjoyed roaming around their Say it with flowers outdoor virtual exhibition, while I was myself in lockdown. I enjoyed it even more because, had I not been in lockdown, it would have been difficult for me to get to Ballarat to view it in person.

Experiencing the artworks in situ is wonderful. Something is certainly lost when the images are simply displayed on a white page of a website.

In fact, Ballarat International Foto Biennale are going one step further with two other virtual exhibitions to provide an online social space so that you can explore the exhibition with a friend. In We will all eventually return to the earth, and The National Centre for Photography exhibitions you can log in and appear as a 3D avatar that allows you to wander around and talk to each other.
