speaking for the trees
You will undoubtedly know of Len’s love for trees, his favourite tour that he runs is to takayna/Tarkine. He has been running that tour for many years and he never tires of photographing this amazing rainforest.
Recently, Len created a handmade book of a selection of his images from takayna/Tarkine. Is it a small, beautiful, hand-sewn book. He printed the images himself and the text is written by hand. With a handmade purple cover, this is a book created truly from the heart.
The recent election brought this fragile wilderness into the spotlight as Bob Brown has been in Sydney campaigning for voters to vote for the trees. This gave Len the opportunity to present his book to Bob. It was gratefully received and is currently on display at the Art for takayna exhibition at Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The exhibition is on now and runs until 11th April 2023.
Head on over if you are in Hobart and see the book for yourself, along with many other gorgeous works of art. Here is a bit more information about the exhibition:
“takayna / Tarkine is one of Earth’s last truly wild places. This globally significant rainforest is more threatened than ever before – by logging, mining and off-road vehicle damage to the natural environment. Art for takayna showcases the beauty and fragility of Australia’s largest temperate rainforest, takayna. These artworks are a call to action – a visual reminder of what is at stake, and what we stand to lose. “
