exhibition: between the us, her, and a camera

It is so good to see so many exhibitions on at the moment. There are some big names coming to Sydney, however, it is incredibly worthwhile checking out the smaller, lesser known galleries in your local area as they often contain the hidden gems!

The ‘between the us, her, and a camera’ portrait exhibition is open now until Sunday April 2nd, 2023 at The Odd Sock Gallery, 6/8 Farm Lane, Blayney NSW 2799, Australia. If you happen to be in this neck of the woods do head on over to view this very personal and moving exhibition by Bradley.

The photographer, Bradley, gives us an insight to his exhibition: it is “an exhibition of deliberately blurred, out of focus, line and movement photography made to push the expectations of what we know a portrait to be and boundary between art and photo. This body of work features creative and regular portraits, including images of Michelle, wife and mother.

The collection takes a look at the connections found in portraits: obvious, subtle and at times, anonymous.

Portraits are memories. Following the death of my wife Shelly, mother and lover the images hold deeply emotional meaning. For me they are personal, complex and confronting.

Some are difficult to face, deliberately hidden, just off to one side, just out of reach, enough to feel like the sadness, beauty and the pain of remembering.”
