Quiet
Sydney is really lovely without all the people. Most have gone on holidays. Less people around is just easier to deal with in every aspect. People are super friendly at the moment. Holiday season.
It’s a big relief not to be away with the masses. On Christmas Day we wandered down to caves beach. Was nice to finally see the infamous caves. I remember thinking that I must return on a quiet day when it’s just me and the conglomerates.
I love travelling in the off season. Go when the others don’t. Hence the specific dates I pick for my trips. Trying to find the perfect balance between quiet and good weather.
It’s worth considering the first or last week of the season too. The last tour I ran to Namibia was the first week of the season. The lodges were relatively empty and all the locations were quiet. I couldn’t imagine going at peak season.
Watching the traffic jam that was leaving Sydney, yesterday, as we returned was heartening. As usual we were going against the grain. Finding the quiet places. Travelling at my own pace.
The best art is just like that. It’s against the grain. It’s different from the masses. It speaks differently. It has its own unique voice.
Sydney is beautiful without the people.
