Enchanted Forest

“If you want inner peace find it in solitude, not speed, and if you would find yourself, look to the land from which you came and to which you go.”

~ Stewart Updall

Yesterday I walked out from Nacisisus Hut back to Cynthia Bay. This is the last full day walk of the Overland Track.  I had spent the previous day wandering around the hut and spent a very quiet night alone there.  It was magical to say the least.  On the walk back it rained, I embraced the mud and puddles and photographed my way back.  I couldn’t manage to carry the camera on the tripod the whole way. So I photographed in convenient bursts.  The 19 kms took most of the day.  It was a good thing I didn’t stay at the other hut as it had twenty on the same night.

It was a school group and someone had written in the log book that they should be banned.   What a selfish thing to write.  Camping next to the hut gave them a fly out toilet.

We must take our children to these places and teach them the value and soul connection we have with ‘Wilderness’ and ‘Mother Nature’.  It is my greatest fear for humanity is loosing that connection from where we once came from.
